Health Care Reform is the result of legislation, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), enacted to provide individuals with accessible and affordable health and dental care. One goal of the ACA was to allow individuals who previously lacked access to health care to get affordable insurance.
Health Care Reform has not noticeably affected many in the workforce
Health Care Reform requires legal residents who can afford insurance, but don't have it, to obtain coverage. Individuals may be eligible for exemptions or government help if affordable coverage isn't available. Insurance may be purchased through health insurance marketplaces or other available options.
Individuals who receive health benefits through work have probably not been greatly impacted by the ACA.
Who is affected by Health Care Reform
Employees who work for companies with fewer than 50 employees (or fewer than 100 employees in some states) may have been impacted in a broader way. These companies are required to offer health and dental plans that contain certain essential health benefits, including a defined pediatric dental benefit.
